Who Had the Most Impact on My Year #HelpedMeIn2016

#HelpedMeIn2016

It’s kind of cool when you get to hang out with the cool kids. All those years of being a geek in high-school are washed away when I get to use sentences like: “My friend Keenan…”

So – my friend Jim Keenan, started a meme for people to share who impacted them the most in their business growth in 2016. We’d love for you to adopt this meme too. Use the #HelpedMeIn2016 (and make sure to tag me when you share!)  Here's the original post (with the questions I didn't answer...  oops.  I'm not good at following rules!)

Anyway, there are so many people who helped me this year in 2016. Choosing just one is so difficult! There are Influencers like Lee Odden and Brian Carter. There are the consultants who helped me turn my business around like AJ Amyx and April Woodcock. There are my fellow social media gurus like Sue Zimmerman and Steve Dotto. There are my parents and my partner. So many people had a HUGE impact on my year. And yet, when I look at the hashtag #HelpedMeIn2016 the name that pops into my head is my very humble and amazing personal assistant Nicole (no – I will not share her last name with you!)

I forget to do something – and she jumps in to take care of it.

I get a hairbrained idea – and she gently talks me down.

I invest in a new piece of software – and she learns it.

I write a post – and she publishes it.

I do an interview – and she shares it.

I get a new client – she signs them up.

I go on vacation – and she takes care of everything.

(She goes on vacation and I freak out!)

Even though she has two little kids (adorable!) and a traveling husband (hot!) and volunteers daily at her kids’ school (you couldn’t pay me enough!)- she still is there to help me run my business. Every day. Whenever I need her. Even on Sundays. (Even though I tell her not to work on Sundays!) She is the backbone of my business.

When people ask me if I can track the turning point in my business – I say it’s the day I got over myself, decided to hire an assistant and learned how to delegate. But I realize the reason I am successful is not just any assistant… it’s MY assistant.

So if you have someone who helps you every day, please take a minute to think of them. Think about how they help you. Think about how much EASIER your life is because they are in it! And THANK them. Give them a call. Send them a card. Bless them on your social channels. And - you know – give them a nice bonus too! (Nicole - watch your mailbox)

Now - I will answer the questions as I was supposed to in the first draft of this blog post :)

WHAT DID THIS PERSON HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH OR ACHIEVE IN 2016?

Nicole is the lubricant to the Linked Into Business machine....  without her, everything gets stuck and jerky and stinky and breaks down (I am making a machinery reference here.  Get your minds out of the gutter!)

WHY WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT SO IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I like to eat and buy purses and hang-glide and scuba dive.  So, you know, I can't do any of that without a paycheck. (And of course contribute to world peace too)

WHAT DID NICOLE DO TO HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL?

See Answer One.

HOW DID THIS PERSON’S SUPPORT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

From above:

I forget to do something – and she jumps in to take care of it.

I get a hairbrained idea – and she gently talks me down.

I invest in a new piece of software – and she learns it.

I write a post – and she publishes it.

I do an interview – and she shares it.

I get a new client – she signs them up.

I go on vacation – and she takes care of everything.

WHY ARE YOU SO THANKFUL FOR THEIR SUPPORT?

Doing what she does means I can do what I do best.  She saves me time, brain power, and probably even money!  I would not be nearly as efficient or accomplish nearly as much.  Also, she writes me funny emails like "LinkedIn is an Asshole."  She makes me laugh.

HOW IS YOUR WORLD DIFFERENT TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS PERSON?

I'm pretty sure I would be older, uglier, single, fatter and broke if Nicole weren't in my life.....

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO THIS PERSON, THAT YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY TOLD THEM?

You are the best and I wouldn't be where I am without you and I know I don't pay you enough, but just hang on... 2017 is the year!!!!

Now it's Your Turn
