Searching Your Connections' Connections! My friend Bob Burg says All things being equal, people do business with people they know, like and trust. So this gives you the opportunity to search people you know, like and trust and see the people that they know, like and trust. To do this, all you have to do this is find someone you know, like and trust on LinkedIn and then click on the number of connection (if it's in blue) in their bio section. (If its black, this wont work.) The blue number link will take you down into their profile into their connections section. Click on the little magnifying glass and expand it into a search box. Now all you have to do is search on a keyword or title to see who they know. What I love about the connections connection search is when you find... Read More

eGrabber To get the email address, phone number, and other contact and company information for a prospect, I use a tool called Email Prospector by eGrabber. This tool is awesome because it essentially fills in the holes of information that you have on your prospects. You may have a name and company but no email address. Or you know their company and title but cannot remember their name. Simply put in all the information that you know from LinkedIn or other sources, and eGrabber will look for everything else. Through a patent pending search eGrabberis able to scope out Google, Bing, Hoovers, LinkedIn and many other sites out there and pull as much information as it can. The research that you can get from eGrabber is incredibly extensive. It exports into a .CSV... Read More

What to do when LinkedInwon't give you a Name! Occasionally, we have to go beyond LinkedIn to find the names of our connections, and one of the first tools you can use to find the name of a "LinkedInMember" is Google! Google Site Search For example - when looking for the marketing people over at Zulilywith a free account -LinkedIngave me a few folk''s first name and last initial, and several "LinkedInMember" results (inviting me to upgrade to see more). In order to see the first and last name of a prospect - I either have to have a paid account - or use the following "Google Hack" The search is very simple. TypeSite: LinkedIn.com/in in the search bar on Google. Then, in quotation marks, add who you are looking for, or if you have a search already on LinkedIn, whatever... Read More

Local and Social Marketing Usually when you hear people talk about social media marketing, the focus is on the vast number of potential prospects: 2 billion people on Facebook, 400 million people on LinkedIn, over 500 million people on Twitter and Instagram. That being said, businesses are usually successful because they focus on a particular market, niche, or location. Not on the vast majority. And this is true for content marketing on LinkedIn as well. While its all well and good to have thousands of connections and millions of people in your network, the most successful business people using LinkedIn do so by creating real relationships with their target markets. 6Steps Here are 6 things you can do to ensure that you're getting the best local use out... A Quick Tour Video: I wanted to give you a quick tour of LinkedIn's new mobile app . It is FINALLY available for both the iPhone and for the Android . (This demo is on the iPhone.) Home Screen First of all, the home screen is going to show your highlights: - the best updates from the people that you follow. You can like, comment and share right from your home screen. I think this is going to actually increase usability and engagement on LinkedIn! Also, you can create an update or even share a photo from this screen. (Love that you can share photos EASILY from your phone without using Airdrop or Dropbox or Evernote!) Before I always had to forward photos I'd taken from my phone onto LinkedIn in order to share them. Now I can just simply share a photo or take a photo.... Read More

LinkedInGlitch Freaks out LinkedInCommunity! So it turns out that LinkedIn(at this time) did NOT get rid of the "How You're Connected" feature on Company Pages. But the immediate and drastic response is telling. Is LinkedIndoing too much - and not always in the best interests of its users? I think I have been pretty vocal about my discomfort with LinkedIn's newest changes. From the messenger app getting rid of the BCC and sorting of inbound/outbound and archived messages, to the inability to search group members by name or keyword, to the loss of the promotions tab in groups, LinkedIn seems to be making changes that are pissing off a lot of people. Folks who have been using LinkedIn effectively for years are feeling like they are being punished for being active users. Is it a... Read More

So Thought you might want to look at the new LinkedIn user interface. And yes, I'm going to give you my honest opinions of it. For instance, I think it looks a little bit juvenile. I preferred the old user interface, but they didn't ask me. As far as functionality, everything is pretty much the same except for Groups. In fact, my feeling is that this new user interface overhaul was designed to align with the new looks of Groups, as well as the new LinkedIn Groups App and New LinkedIn Mobile App. Other than the new blue bar up top, everything seems to be right now as it was. When you go to your homepage, everything that you're used to seeing is still there. You can view your recent activity, see who's viewed your profile, who's viewed your posts. Your share an update , ... Read More

The NEW LinkedIn Groups the application is now available for your Apple device and I actually really, really like it. (Changes to Groups on LinkedIn rolling out soon!) Go to iTunes, click on Apps and Search for LinkedIn Groups. It is NOT the first app to show up. You will recognize it because it looks a lot like the Connected app. Check out this video to see LinkedInGroups in action! Once it is downloaded and opened it, the app is going to ask you if you want to sign in as yourself (if you already have a LinkedIn mobile app.) If you don't, then you'll probably just have to sign into LinkedIn. Either way, you only have to do it once, and then the LinkedIn Groups app will take you to the home screen where you can see what's happening. The Highlights page is pretty much... Read More
