What to do now that we are losing LinkedIn’s CRM features (Saved and Advanced Search, Tagging and Notes)

By: Viveka Wednesday January 18, 2017 comments Tags: LinkedIn, LinkedIn Tags, Nimble, Dux-Soup, LinkedIn Expert, LinkedIn Tips

You have probably heard rumors about all the changes being made to LinkedIn in the next few months. (If not, read this article). One of the biggest changes is that we are losing the Advanced search as well as saved searches, tagging and note-taking. All CRM aspects of the FREE LinkedIn service are going away. Which is a HUGE bummer for people who have been actively prospecting using these tools with their free LinkedIn accounts. The solution within LinkedIn is to upgrade to Sales Navigator (which I personally love,) but at $79 a month, that is going to be outside of most peoples wheelhouse! Another solution is to use the Chrome Extension Dux-Soup which has both free and paid version and works to create Tags and Notes for your prospects on LinkedIn (when using Chrome.) ... Read More

What is the Difference Between the Old LinkedIn User Interface and the New UI in 2017 (and Why Should You Care?)

LinkedIns New Look LinkedIn's new user interface is here. Well, its here for some of us like my friend Kate Paine . I dont have it , so a huge thank you to Kate for giving me access to her new LinkedIn UI! I have a video you can watch of my UI comparison here ! Lets take a look at LinkedIn side by side so you can see what's new on LinkedIn, what's gone away on LinkedIn, what's better with the new LinkedIn user interface, and what's not so hot! First of all, wow, LinkedIn changed colors, right? It's been some form of blue, black, and white, and gray for at least nine years. They've moved to this dark teal color. How does this affect you? Well, probably not much at all unless you are colorblind. Having said that, the reason LinkedIn is giving for the new user... Read More

By: Viveka Tuesday December 6, 2016 comments Tags: LinkedIn, LinkedIn Tags, LinkedIn Tips

What is LinkedIn Tagging? LinkedIn Tagging is a way for you to segment and organize your connections on LinkedIn.It is similar to Facebook and Twitter Lists (except your connections cant see how you tagged them.) And for a short while longer, will be available to all users.(Rumor has it that the new interface gets rid of tagging with the free account L) Why Tagging is Important The reason tagging is so important is because it allows you to keep in touch and share relevant information with target groups of individuals.Lets say you write a new Publisher Post on Best Networking Events for Lawyers in NYC.Obviously you would not message your whole network with that post, but you might let your top 22 NYC Lawyer Prospects know about the post on LinkedIn!Without tagging it would be... By: Viveka Thursday December 1, 2016 comments Tags: Viveka von Rosen, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Expert, LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn Publisher

I often get asked how it was that I became the LinkedIn Expert. The simple answer is I got the name first. I was also very lucky to get into a new industry early on (meaning the URLs and the handle LinkedIn Expert hadnt been taken yet.) And I was fortunate to create a bit of a name for myself since there really weren't too many other people doing what I was at the time. (Especially as a female in what was then a male dominated world.) But really, becoming an expert in my industry, besides luck and timing, was a combination of diligence, work, and positioning. Not everyone needs to be a LinkedIn Expert. But you can be an expert in your field on LinkedIn! Here are some steps to take. KISS Keywords First of all, know what people are looking for. I tried on all kinds of titles when I... Read More

Even though I'm on vacation, I wanted you to know about the new Publisher Interface. YouTube Video: Check out the video here: Why Isnt It Working? First of all, know that Publisher doesn't seem to be working on Chrome. At least, it wasn't working on my Chrome. Publisher was there, but none of these features showed up. See image below. Also the main image wouldn't load. But have no fear! Just go to a different browser. It worked for me in Firefox and Safari (although another client had issues with Firefox.) What Publisher Looks Like When It Does Work! When you go to your homepage and click on "Write an article," LinkedIn will take you to the new LinkedIn Publisher. Add your main visual right up top. (Im not sure, but I think the 700 x 400... Read More
