Did you know LinkedIn had a help forum? I was chatting with my new LinkedIn friend Huub Ritzema about LinkedIn's help feature, and he reminded me about their "new" Help forum. Just in case you haven't checked it out yet, it's worth the gander. If you click on "Help Center" at the very very bottom of your profile on the left-hand side, it will take you to LinkedIn's Help Center. (The Help Center is also featured in the new UI). Once you're in the Help Center you can click on Help Forum. From this help forum, you can search questions that have already been asked and answered, or even start your own discussion. So this is nothing like LinkedIn Answers where you could ask questions about anything business related. But at least you can ask questions to the forum... Read More

4 Easy Steps to Adding Documents and Pictures to Your LinkedIn Company Page With the ongoing theme of "LinkedIn Giveth and LinkedIn Taketh Away," LinkedIn has taken away the Answers feature. (Or will be on January 31). But today it has given us the ability to easily add photos and documents to our company pages. Adding Photos and Documents To do this, follow these simple steps: 1. Go to your company page and where you would normally add an update, click on the paperclip. LinkedIn Answers: An information and relationship-building goldmine! Tuesday (June 1st) during the #LinkedInChat , we will be talking about LinkedIn Answers. Here's some homework for you :) Q1) Have you used LinkedIn Answer? Q2) How have you used LinkedIn Answers? Q3) Have you ever use LinkedIn Answers to develop or deepen a LinkedIn relationship? Q4) Do you find LinkedIn Answers a useful tool? Q5) Have you ever received a best answer? Steve Cassady, a regular (and occasional co-moderator) of the LinkedInChat has this to say about answers: I think Linkedin Answers is a great tool: It helps build credibility when you get credit for expertise on Best Answers. One point I would like to make is to ask... Read More

Company Search Analytics My inbox has been flooded by people asking me why their companies no longer turn up in the Company Search – even under their own name. And the short answer is – I don’t know why. I’ve spoken with other experts and none of us has the answer. When you query LinkedIn, the response goes something like this: “Searches are usually done by geography and by (X number) of (industry specialists) in the US. It makes SEO a huge business. My suggestion is to find and hire a consultant. Your account has no technical problems.” But the fact is I probably have one of the best SEO’d personal and company profiles (its what I do for a living) and I have disappeared. So have many of the other experts in my field. I know its not... Read More

LinkedIn Answers and Writer's Block Got writer's block when it comes to your blog postings? Are you like me – brain shut down from too much eggnog and turkey? Can’t formulate sentences, much less think of something to write a post about? Well, let LinkedIn help you: Open LinkedIn Under “More” click on “Answers” Go to “Advanced Answer Search” Type in a keyword of something you know something about (i.e. LinkedIn, OD, Project Management, IP, etc.) Take a look at the questions being asked about your area of expertise Open an interesting question Answer it in your blog – OR - see if you’ve already answered it in a blog Use the text from your blog to answer the question – and add the link (and because it will... Advice to new users (sourced from LinkedIns Answers section) I was lurking around LinkedIn Answers today looking to be inspired for this blog post. The first question to pop up was, synchronistically, from my friend Michele Reynolds . She asked: What sage advice would you give someone just starting out on LinkedIn? All the advice shared was dot on. Some of the highlights were: Nick Acott who said: Be friendly, offer advice where you can regardless of how trivial you may think it is and try to put up some engaging questions/posts on discussion boards. And the occasional smiley face :) (You can find Nick at http://www.Fireflylondon.co.uk ) Sahar Adrade suggests (edited): Be courteous, Dont push your services/ products, ... Read More
