Even though I'm on vacation, I wanted you to know about the new Publisher Interface.
Check out the video here:
Why Isn’t It Working?
First of all, know that Publisher doesn't seem to be working on Chrome. At least, it wasn't working on my Chrome. Publisher was there, but none of these features showed up. See image below.
Also – the main image wouldn't load. But have no fear! Just go to a different browser.
It worked for me in Firefox and Safari (although another client had issues with Firefox.)
What Publisher Looks Like When It Does Work!
When you go to your homepage and click on "Write an article," LinkedIn will take you to the new LinkedIn Publisher. Add your main visual right up top. (I’m not sure, but I think the 700 x 400 pixel will still work best since the posts look the same once Published). Notice the "Add a credit in the caption." You could do that before - but it wasn't as obvious.
Then you have your headline - with the options of Normal H1, H2.
Most of the old features will how up on the top menu: Style, Bold, Italics, Underscore, Bullets, Numbers, Quotes and HyperLinks.
I almost had heart attack because I couldn't find any of the visuals – but have no fear. They are there (just somewhat hidden.)
Beneath the Headline you will see “Media Icon” (little box with a plus sign,) where you can add your images, a video, slides, SlideShare or embed codes.
To publish, you still click on Publish. Um Duh.
A Few More Features:
Under “More”, you can see where your drafts are and where your posts are, and they've got a help center (that I think a lot of people are going to need - at least starting out). Oh – and you can easily delete drafts in case you mess up. Whew!
Tags. Tags are missing. So I don't know if LinkedIn's getting rid of those or it’s just a hiccup with the new interface. Time will tell. (I feel like I write that a lot!)
Once you have published post, it looks the same as it used to. So that is what is new with Publisher! Question? Pop them into comments below. I’ll get to them eventually. Now I am going back on my vacation!
