You go to the office or to work and consider yourself to be a business person. Whatever your current occupation is gives you an additional company title. What tends to be forgotten about is that you are a human being. You have a life outside of the office and work. Yet you choose to live a majority of your productive hours each week working.
When working, your goal is to do a good job – even more than just a good job. Always, to be successful at what you do.
Yet because you are human, you’re also to some degree or another a creature of habit. All of us are.
For example, you get up in the morning at a certain time every work day and do the same things to prepare to go off to work. You arrive at work and behave in similar ways each business day.
In the process of these daily business activities, you accumulate consciously or unconsciously a lot of “stuff”. You accumulate ways of thinking. You accumulate ways of being successful. You receive an incredible amount of email every day demanding your time. There just isn’t enough time in the day for everything in work and in life.
For more business success you need to start thinking today about quitting something.
What am I going to quit that will open up my mind?
What’s going to give me more opportunity to think about what I want to do to reach my goals?
Of course, you need to have goals. You can’t just every business day show up and “wing it” (which many actually attempt do).
For example: You can’t just say: I’m going to make more money.
The question is: How am I going to actually make more money?
You need to decide what’s important in your work and in your life. Separate what you need to do from what you want to do. Then determine what you can stop doing so you can become more successful. The decision to stop doing something every day for more business success will be highly individual.
Remember: There is only so much time in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year. Time goes by quickly. Before you know it, the day is done or a year has passed. Once time is gone, it’s gone. You can’t get it back. That’s why it’s important to think about what you can quit starting today to bring more business success and to have a better life.
If you find yourself using time in unproductive endeavors either in your business life or personal life it creates stress. It’s keeping you from being successful.
Push it aside.
Time for new ideas.
You need fresh thinking.
Otherwise, you will continue to do the same things over and over and over again.
You’ll complain about the same things over and over and over again.
Make a list of everything you complain about over and over and over again.
Make a list of what you are unhappy with.
What causes your stress?
Think about whether it’s essential to do those things and if so, how to improve the situation.
The goal is to get you back on track again.
To be the clear thinking business person you know you can be.
Start by quitting something today that blocks your pathway to more business success.
To your success!
